Physical Therapy: About our Treatment Process

physical therapy treatment

How will we work with you during a physical therapy session?

One of the most important elements of your physical therapy session will be therapeutic exercises. We will also educate and train you in areas such as safe performance of daily tasks, ergonomics, use of braces and splints to protect joints, and use of crutches, cane, walker or wheelchair.

To resolve inflammation, promote tissue healing, and reduce muscle spasm, we may use therapeutic ultrasound, electrical stimulation, iontophoresis, or phonophoresis. Depending on the specifics of your condition, we may also use some manual therapy techniques to prepare your joints and soft tissues for active exercise.

To ensure the best outcome of your physical therapy treatment, we will coordinate your care with your physician and / or any other healthcare professional you work with (your chiropractor, acupuncturist, etc.).

Some of our patients opt to supplement physical therapy treatment with manual therapy and / or hypnotherapy, especially if their condition is chronic and affected by stress. We invite you to read more about manual therapy and hypnotherapy.

“My experience at New Body ~ New Mind has always been excellent. Unlike other physical therapy services I had used before, the program at New Body ~ New Mind was totally customized and personal. Teresa really worked to understand my situation and developed solutions best for me. Her high standards for herself (and for me in following through with my exercises) paid off in getting me back into excellent physical condition. I was not only able to resume my daily activities without pain, but also pursue high level athletic and recreational activities. I recommend New Body ~ New Mind to any person in need of rehabilitation.”
